Hey, What's This Halvah Stuff Anyway?

Halvah is an Eastern Mediterranean crumbly sweet confection candy thingy, that tastes delicious, but, is often made with flour and oil and not-so-good for you stuff like that. So, here we go again with a Raw alternative recipe that is easy to make and tastes great!

1 1/2 Cups of Raw Almonds
1/2 Cup Raw Tahini
3 Tablespoons of Raw Honey
1 teaspoon of Raw Vanilla
1 1/2 Tablespoons of Powdered Raw Cacao

Grind Almonds in a food processor until finely ground.
Add Honey, Tahini, and Vanilla, and mix together.
Remove 1/2 of the mixture and set aside.
Put the Raw Cacao powder in the other half and process well.
Take some Plain mixture and some Chocolate mixture and make 1" size balls (these should resemble a marbleizing pattern) after you make the Halvah balls, put in the freezer (covered, to protect against freezer burn) and wait about an hour or two and enjoy!

You can store these in the freezer, they don't really freeze that much, and if they're to hard for you, thaw them for a couple of minutes.    So that's what Raw Halvah is!   Stay Hungry.........Guy

Hit The Gym For Strength!

Today was upper body strength training day, do to the fact that my legs wouldn't be able to handle a long walk on the treadmill, let alone the elliptical machine. So, I was off to the gym this evening. I did biceps, triceps, lats, chest, and shoulders to failure. Then came home and ate a salad with romaine, shredded carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, avocado, dill, cilantro, and homemade dressing made with lemon, apple cider vinegar, and liquid aminos. I'm sore, so I'm off to rest, resssssst     Stay Hungry..........Guy

Hey, How About An Evening Jog?

So I got home today and thought, "Hey, how about I ask "The Dude" if he'd like to go out for a jog before dinner? And he says to me, "Sure, If you feel up to it." Of course I felt up to it. So, we hit the streets, and before long, and I do mean before long, I had to slow down to a brisk walk, and then run, then brisk walk, then run, then brisk walk, you get the picture. I had no idea what I was in for, but I most certainly do now. On our way back from my huge run/brisk walk expedition, I suggested, " Hey, I'll race you to the stop sign."
Well I kept up for about 10 yards or so, and gave up after 30 yards, because I had my @55 handed to me by "The Dude." Wow, when did he get that fast! Been a while since we last raced. That was a lot different than walking briskly on the treadmill at the gym for an hour @ 4 miles an hour. That was really fun though, "Runnin' with The Dude! He's so Awesome!     Stay Hungry........Guy

Just Rambling

The other day an associate of mine asked me to write about,"What's so bad about eating a hotdog anyway?"
Really? A Hotdog? Where do I start?! The Gluten-laden bun? The Ultra-Processed Meat, or lack there of?
I can go on and on about what's so bad about a hotdog, that it might take up too much of my time that I'm "not" willing to give. So, I'll just say for now, yeah, I miss what hotdogs used to to taste like, or represent to the American ways of life, but I've come to realize that hotdogs alone can not run the machine. The machine that Sarah Conner once believed in. Hey, I said just rambling right? Seriously folks, Hot Dogs taste great, unless you've evolved to a higher level of consciousness, like the rest of us relentless Vegans. Ramble, ramble, ramble, Blah, blah, blah, blah....Meat Bad !!! Veggies  good!    Stay Hungry.......Guy

A Few Words About Dairy Products

Hi, It's me again, and it's time to let the cat out of the bag on dairy products. The American Diet is centered around animal foods, sugar, and refined grains, all of which have no calcium. Cow's milk, as the dairy industry would have you believe, does contains calcium, but is not absorbed into the bones properly, because milk doesn't contain Magnesium, which is needed to accompany calcium to be properly absorbed into the bloodstream, to make the bones stronger, and prevent osteoporosis. This is why getting your calcium from dark, leafy green vegetables is the best way to get your calcium. Because, if your body isn't getting properly absorbable calcium accompanied by magnesium, the calcium in your bones will actually be leached out by dairy products, leading to bones problems, hip fractures, heart disease, and cancer, to name a few. So what are we going to use to replace milk? I'm glad you asked. My best recommendation is to make your own Raw almond milk: blend 1 cup of Raw almonds with 3 cups of spring water, and strain through cheese cloth, and there you have it, Raw almond milk, the best substitute for cow's milk you can make. If your too lazy to make your own, you can go to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods and buy Organic, unsweetened almond milk already made for you. Oh yeah, dairy fat is also loaded with toxins, and is the leading cause to our nation's exposure to dioxin, which is an environmental pollutant that is highly toxic to your organs!  So, people, please cut out the diary and live longer!  Stay Hungry.......Guy

A Few Words About Soy Products

Soy is the most mucus-forming plant food in the world. Mucus interferes with the body's productivity. It slowly builds up and causes things like, asthma, weight gain, poor circulation, irritable bowel syndrome, and premature aging amongst many other digestive problems. Soy sauce is o.k. in small amounts, but I prefer Bragg's Liquid Amino's, which is basically a healthy alternative to soy sauce, that is alkalizing, and tastes the same as soy sauce. So, remember folks, don't buy into that pre-packaged hype food you see out there that contains soy of any kind. You shouldn't be buying any prepared foods anyway, make your own food out of fresh vegetables and herbs. Your body & heart will thank you in the long run!  Stay Hungry...Guy

Hit The Gym!

Today, I was off to the gym early ( I got there at 7:45 ) and I was expecting to have the gym all to myself,  ( Being Monday morning and all ) Oh boy was I wrong! I couldn't believe all the people there so early, and on a Monday morning at that! Well anyway, I won't bore you with my routine and all that stuff. I just wanted to remind you just how important exercise is as well as nutrition. So get out there and do something! Anything, like Walking, Yoga, Pilates, Wii Fit, or whatever, as long as it gets your heart pumpin'! Exercise is important to have a healthy heart, you don't need to exercise until your about ready to die from it, you just need to incorporate a little here and there, as long as your eating mostly raw foods, you won't need to exercise nearly as much as your meat-eating friends. And that's a fact Jack! Who's this Jack guy anyway?  Be well, Eat well, and...........Stay Hungry        Guy

Super Salad To The Rescue!

Tonight I needed some serious nutrition after a weekend of poor meal choices, so I decided it was time to whip up a serious salad. Tonight's salad contained; Kale, Zucchini, Tomatoes, Cucumber, Avocado, Clover Sprouts and Homemade dressing. The dressing is made from the juice of 2 fresh squeezed lemons, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of Bragg's Liquid Amino's ( A healthy, alkalizing alternative to soy sauce ) That's It ! Easy huh? Now go make your own and feel better!  Stay Hungry...Guy

It's time to Alkalize!

I would like to briefly touch on the topic of alkalizing foods. Alkalizing foods are foods that are good for you in such a way that they help maintain a proper balance between acid and alkaline in our bodies. By nature our bodies are alkaline by design, but acidic by function. The body's metabolic processes produce huge amounts of acid throughout the day, so we must infuse alkalizing foods in order to obtain a balance of acid/alkaline in our bodies. This is important because, when the body is in a mostly acidic state, we are more susceptible to disease. The kidneys and lungs are the primary organs that work to eliminate acid buildup, as is the skin itself. Anyway, enough with the boring stuff. In future blogs, I will be listing recipes and certain foods that are alkalizing and taste good as well. Like Almond butter, Zucchini, Sweet potatoes, Green Teas, Vegetable soup, Broccoli, Carrots, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Bell peppers, to name a few.
Well until then.....Stay Hungry    Guy

Ah Ah Ahchoo!

"Why should I eat Raw food anyway?
Eating predominantly cooked foods puts a real strain on your body. Enzymes are abundant in all raw foods, no so much in cooked foods, well, not at all in cooked foods really. When we heat food over 118 degrees fahrenheit, naturally occurring enzymes are destroyed in the process. Our bodies then need to manufacture digestive enzymes on there own, instead of letting the natural enzymes from food do the work for you. Why is his important? Because, when the body has to make digestive enzymes, it is unable to properly make enzymes for other important things like, manufacturing enzymes for metabolism, which it important for cleansing and losing fat, building muscle and oh yeah, for healing and fighting of viruses. If we don't get enough enzymes, our bodies will slowly begin to decline, leaving us with not-so-wonderful things like, indigestion, memory loss, bad skin, allergies, and mood swings. What it comes down to is simple, If we don't get an adequate supply of enzymes in our bodies we ultimately will die. So, Eat raw, eat fresh, juice when you can, Including vegetable juices for healing, and you maybe, just maybe, I won't have to hear you go, "Ah Ah Ahchooooooooooo!"      Stay Hungry      Guy

Did You Know?

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1 acre of land can produce 20,000 pounds of vegetables.
The same amount of land can only produce 165 pounds of meat.

"Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." Albert Einstein

Eating meat and dairy products over an extended period of time will lead to obesity, diabetes, kidney stones, hypertension and gout.

Raising livestock for food consumption is responsible for 20% of all greenhouse gases emitted.
This is more than the entire automobile industry around the world combined!

So if you really want to go green, stop supporting the meat industries and go veggie!

Hey I have to rant sometimes, if not just to vent, but to also educate you on why a vegetarian lifestyle is not only good for you, it's good for our planet as well.       Stay Hungry......Guy

Hey, How about a salad?

I often see people that are trying to lose weight, eat salads, they eat salads at take-out places like, Wendy's or McDonald's, and all too often they wonder why they're not losing the weight like they thought they would, or why they're still hungry and want to binge before dinner on an unhealthy snack. O.K. That's where I come in. People, A salad is suppose to be composed of fresh vegetables and a smart choice of dressing. Not a salad that contains chicken or other meats or cheeses or croutons or garbonzo beans or prunes or raisins. You get the point right? A salad loaded down with all that garbage is just heavy dinner all tossed together to look like a salad. Keep it Raw or keep it away! Moving on, People have asked me why I juice as often as I do. Juicing lets you get a boat load of enzymes that are trapped inside the fibers of fresh vegetables that normally can't be absorbed into our bloodstream efficiently through normal digestion. By juicing you get all the benefits of live enzymes without wasting any digestive energy that can be better used on healing your body instead. A woman I know recently asked me,"Don't you miss chewing your food." I simple explained to her the reasons aforementioned herein to her and she seemed to understand then. So now you know why I like to make some form of gazpacho for dinner. So I don't have to have my body waste valuable energy digesting tons of fresh veggies. Until next time...Stay Hungry,    Guy

GuysRawMovement

Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm not a man of wealth or fame, I'm just a man with a purpose in life to educate people on the tried and true methods of my madness. You see, I don't have a PhD in anything, and I don't have any Certifications in Nutrition Science, But, I am a Certifiable Guinea Pig in my own experimentation in the Land of Raw Nutrition. I would like to start by telling you, If you plan to embark on this crazy little thing called Raw Dieting, Be forewarned that it is a process, and it will take time to fully achieve perfect health. If you jump in full swing at first, you will have some very negative results like, Migraine headaches, constipation, gassiness, fatigue, and acne. I recommend transitioning slowly from a mainstream diet of cooked foods and garbage to a healthy raw diet. Start out by juicing in the morning. I like to make Green Lemonade. This is a staple in every raw foodist's daily regime. It is made by juicing 2 apples 1 lemon 1 head of Romaine lettuce and some Kale or any dark, leafy greens. Then after about 20 minutes or so, I juice melons, apples, strawberries, pears, or whatever is in season, and drink up. That's my Breakfast. I then have fresh fruit throughout the morning like, watermelon or cantaloupe or grapes. Then for lunch I'll have a nice salad with Romaine lettuce, Maybe some kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, carrots, sprouts, flax seeds, and some homemade dressing made with lemons, balsamic vinegar, raw honey, sea salt, pepper, dark mustard, apple cider vinegar, fresh herbs and an avocado. Usually, that is enough food to last until dinner. For my dinner, I usually make some kind of Raw Gazpacho, Tomatoes, Kale, Sprouts, Carrots, Avocado, Zucchini, sea salt, pepper, cayenne pepper,   and anything else I feel like throwing in like, Chia seeds or Dried Seaweed. Basically, It's pretty much a salad of some sort put through the food processor to become a raw, cold soup, Yummy!
I don't recommend anybody start out going all raw at first. As a matter of fact, I recommend you start out by going just raw until dinner time, Then just have a sensible meal like, Brown rice and mixed steamed veggies and maybe a sweet potato. Maybe Quinoa mixed with veggies and a nice green leafy side salad. Hey people, you get the picture here don't you? Cut out the crap slowly but surely, like Meat, White sugars and flours, anything that comes in a box prepared already, anything frozen, Fresh is Best!
Stop smoking, Start working out with things like Yoga, Walking, Pilates, Something, people, just get moving! O.K. Some supplementation I like to use that has worked for me is, Maca root powder which increases energy, and also promotes endocrine function, and contains a boat load of phytonutrients, 8 minerals, 20 fatty acids, 6 sterols, and tons of vitamins, saponins, carbohydrates and protein. I also use Spirulina, Goji Berries, Raw Cacao, Chia Seeds, and Stevia and Honey for my sweeteners. Now before some of you start crying, "I'm trying to watch my carbs", or some lame excuse for not embarking on this change. I will show you in up coming blogs why you'll never have to worry about counting carbs or calories or protein or fat or anything ever again! Stop the magic pills! They don't replace fresh fruits and vegetables! They don't contain the necessary Hydrating properties that fresh fruits and veggies do! In upcoming blogs, I will explain the benefits of all the supplements I mentioned herein.
Well I've got to go now. Until then, Stay Hungry!     Guy

O.K. Let's Get Started !

Step one in getting ready for a new healthy body is eliminating the crap that made you have an unhealthy body in the first place. Eliminate all foods that contain simple carbohydrates: white sugar, white flour, white potatoes, you see where I'm going here? eliminate the white things in your life (except people)  people are still important in your lives. Start to eliminate dairy products as well. Oh yeah, Ditch the meat.
Sound like much huh? Well, you can't get there from here unless you're willing to make some sacrifices.
Give me one month and I'll change your life forever. Come on, the P90X guys get 90 days, you can at least give me 30!  Start every morning with this crazy little thing called Green Lemonade: Juice 1 lemon, 2 apples, 1 head of Romaine lettuce, and drink up!  Then, make some juice from apples, strawberries, pears, melons, or whatever is in season, and drink up!  Then eat fresh fruit throughout the morning. At lunch time you can enjoy yourself a nice salad with goodies like Romaine lettuce, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, grated carrots, sprouts, avocados, red peppers, and so on, get creative, just don't put stuff in there like fruit, meat, crackers, or store bought dressings (except Amy's Naturals) that dressing is o.k. for those of you who are too lazy to make your own. For dinner you can have yourself some brown rice, steamed veggies, sweet potatoes, maybe some sauteed veggies in e.v.o.o. ?
Drink water with lemon throughout the day and night. Oh, and if you get hungry throughout the day at first, feel free to incorporate a trail mix of RAW almonds, Goji berries, and raw cacao nibs.
O.K. people, I've done my part, now the rest is up to you !    Stay Hungry....Guy

Time to get back on Track !

Well, here's the low down, as promised, some sound advice on dieting and the new you.
It's Real simple folks, If you don't already have a juicer, Get one! O.K. then every morning juice 2 apples, one lemon, one head of romaine lettuce & maybe some kale. Drink up! Then juice some melon, apples, strawberries, or whatever is available to juice, and drink up! throughout the morning, feel free to eat melons or grapes or whatever fresh fruit you find palatable. For lunch have a nice salad with some fresh veggies like romaine, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, sprouts, avocado, and please make your own dressing because the store bought stuff contains things I have trouble pronouncing, let alone digesting, A simple dressing consists of one lemon, balsamic vinegar, ginger, sea salt, pepper, Bragg's liquid aminos, dijon mustard, garlic, whisk well and pour over your salad and eat it! for those of you just starting out, I suggest just going Raw until Dinner. For dinner have a sensible dinner like steamed broccoli, sweet potato, brown rice with stir fried veggies with red onion and red pepper and zucchini. Maybe a little marinade. That's it! A simple way to get nutrition and lose excess fat! while getting healthy and not missing the meat.
Peace...   Guy

We're Baaaaack !!!

Well it turned out to be a pleasant visit after all. My brothers were funny (looking) to be around and my mother didn't dare say I was too skinny. When we got there, the plan was we were to go to the store and pick out what we all wanted to eat. (Easy for me) just drop me off in the produce dept. and let me start filling the basket with salad goodies. (which I did). The rest of the meat eaters seemed like what took forever and eternity too pick out crap junk food and meat and meat and meat. Turned out to be a fun time after all. Well Gotta go, 'cause I could ramble on all day about this but I won't. Bye for now Raw foodies!
                                                                                                                                                           Guy

It's time for a visit

Well today Me and The Dude are going to visit my folks house to see my two brothers and parents.
Time to educate the meat eaters once again about the pitfalls of poor meal choices. Hey, maybe there will be some lettuce or tomatoes to feast on today! Well I'm really looking forward hearing about how I'm too skinny again. I guess compared to the meat eatin' fatties, I probably do look too skinny. Well, we're off to see the Wizard!
